What is Eastside Toastmasters?
Eastside Toastmastersis a wonderful place to learn speaking, listening, and leadership skills that have helped people communicate effectively in virtually all interpersonal and business situations.

It is also a very safe place to practice your speaking skills and receive constructive evaluations and feedback from a diverse population of people who have a common interest: more effective communications.

No matter what your purpose or reason for wanting to improve your speaking skills, you will find genuine interest and support from Eastside Toastmasters members.

How It Works
Eastside Toastmasters is one of many clubs in an international organization. Each member in each club worldwide follows the same procedure in a proven system to improve speaking skills.

You begin with the Communications and Leadership “Basic Manual,” which outlines objectives for ten speeches. Each speech has a specific purpose—such as vocal variety—to focus on one aspect of a successful presentation.

As you progress through this first manual, you will be given encouragement and a comprehensive evaluation of each speech. In fact, evaluations are probably the most important part of the Toastmasters program. It is through this feedback that we improve and grow.

At the completion of the first ten manual speeches, you will be recognized as a Competent Toastmaster (CTM). From this point on, you can choose your course from fifteen Advanced Manuals, each containing five speech projects, and design your learning experience to suit your needs.

You can choose from subject areas such as Humor, Sales, Communicating on Television, and Story-Telling among others. No matter what project you are working on, the topic is always yours to choose.

Along the way, at each meeting, you will hear speeches from other members that will enrich your life, tickle your funny bone, or bring a tear to your eye. It is a great way to learn as you will hear so many others working to improve.

You will experience techniques that you may choose to incorporate into your day-to-day communications. You will be able to monitor your own progress with the honest feedback from other members.

Roles & Responsibilities
As a member, you will be assigned various functions to perform at meetings. These functions are published in advance of the scheduled date. If, for some reason, you cannot perform a scheduled duty, you are expected to find a substitute and notify the Toastmaster of the change.

To Join Now
You are welcome to return as a guest at any time to get a better feel of the variety of our meetings. However, we invite you to “take the plunge” and begin meeting your personal goals. As soon as you pay your dues, you are immediately able to enjoy the benefits of Toastmasters (at your own pace).

To join Eastside Toastmasters, ask the membership director for an application, take a few minutes to fill it out, and return it to the Club treasurer with your cash or check. The investment in yourself is well worth it!

October and April are highlighted because these are the months that Toastmaster International Dues are due. Dues are paid twice a year.

New Member Information: If you are a new member joining for the first time, you will pay an additional, one-time fee of $20 for your New Member Kit. (Ex: In October or April, you would pay $27 for Toastmaster International Dues, $18 for Club 6500 Dues, and $20 for your New Member Kit, for a total of $65.)

Proration Information/Toastmaster International Dues: Toastmaster International Dues are prorated as the year progresses. So, if a member joins in October or April, Toastmaster International Dues for the six-month dues period are $27. Twenty-seven dollars divided by 6 months is $4.50 per month, so you can see that the amount of Toastmaster International Dues decreases by $4.50 as each month progresses away from either October or April. (Ex: If you join in January, you pay only $13.50 for Toastmaster International Dues.)

Proration Information/Club 6500 Dues: If a member joins in October or April, Club 6500 Dues for the six-month dues period are $18. Eighteen dollars divided by 6 months is $3 per month, so you can see that the amount of Club 6500 Dues decreases by $3 as time progresses. Club 6500 Dues pay for room fees, ribbons, pins, supplies and other items.

(** If you join in March or September, the Club dues are waived.)

Please Note: Dues and New Member Kit costs may increase as Toastmaster International sees fit. Also, Club 6500 Dues may also increase. Confirm all prices/dues amounts before writing your check. This document can be revised as information changes.
